Lesley Catherine Megarity – Director

Lesley is a partner/director in a leading domestic care group of companies and she also undertakes the role of Chief Executive within the group.

She is a member of the Northern Ireland Domiciliary Special Interest Group, and has made a significant contribution in the development of new care standards in community care and nursing homes.

Lesley has also represented the IHCP at various committees including pharmaceutical regulation in the community, and also in raising the profile of the industry in the overall health care economy.

Lesley has also previously held senior management positions within the commercial insurance sector.

Gerald McLean – Director

Gerald has held a number of senior posts within the Northern Ireland Health Service sector covering both acute and primary care components.

He was formerly director of corporate affairs and deputy Chief Executive of the Eastern Multifund which represented over 200,000 patients.

Ten years ago he became Executive Chairman of MAC2 consulting and has a particular interest in practice audit and collaboration.  Gerald co-owns this organisation which has been involved in setting up forty eight practiced based commissioning platforms throughout England.  Two years ago he also became chairman of Consulting Associates UK which provides a wide range of services to PBC Consortia.

His PBC involvement covers all aspects of initial set-up including relationships, organisational issues and governance.  He also advises in matters relating to recruitment, business planning, and negotiations with PCTs’  and third parties.

Gerald is a member of the NAPC advisory forum on PBC and is a contributor to Practical Commissioning.  His current work includes the establishment of independent commissioning organisations and pharmacy consortia.

Jim Symington – Director

Jim has extensive experience working at a senior level in the Health and Social Services field spanning district, area board, trust and regional levels.

From May 1990 to August 2007 he was employed as a Director covering the North Down, Ards and Belfast areas.  A key component of his role included leading the major capital development schemes linking to both the acute and primary care infrastructure programmes.  He was also closely involved in the planning and development of the GP led Bangor and Ards community hospitals.

His remit as Director also included heading-up human resources, public relations, facilities management, CSSD, Estates, property portfolio, information technology, risk management, value analysis and the market testing process.

For the past three years he has been employed as a strategic planning consultant in the private healthcare sector.

James McKay – Director

James studied pharmacy at the Welsh School of Pharmacy and then completed a Masters in Business Administration at the University of Wales. He spent a year working in community pharmacy in New Zealand before returning to Northern Ireland in 2005 to work alongside his parents in his family business.

In 2007 he was appointed Managing Director of the McKay Newtownards Ltd comprising of a group of pharmacies (McKay Pharmacy), an e-commerce store (lifeandlooks.com) and a beauty Spa (ClarinsSkin Spa – Templepatrick).   In 2008 he was elected Vice President of the Ulster Chemist Association.  He was subsequently elected President of the Ulster Chemist Association for the 2009 year term.

James has been a regulator contributor to pharmacy and business publications.  He is also a member of the Institute of Directors.
